Early Autumn Home Prep: Quick Hacks for Colorado Homeowners
It may still feel like summer out there, but cooler weather is just around the corner—and in Colorado, that first snow can surprise you. Now’s the perfect time to knock out a few quick home and car prep tasks before the season changes.
Here’s a simple Early Autumn Home Prep Checklist to help you head into fall ready for anything:
✅ Schedule your HVAC/furnace tune-up
✅ Check weather stripping and door seals
✅ Clean out gutters before the leaves fall
✅ Drain and store hoses and sprinklers (but hold off a bit longer on blowing out irrigation—October is your target for that!)
✅ Stock up on fireplace wood or schedule a chimney inspection
✅ Open up floor vents going into the colder months to improve warm air flow throughout your home
✅ Move your ultrasonic humidifier back into your living spaces to prep for dry indoor air
✅ Change your air filter—and write the date right on it so you’ll know exactly when it was last replaced
Bonus tip: Prep your car for emergency snow.
