Discovering the Vibrant Art Scene of Old Colorado City

Each year as the snow begins to melt, Old Colorado City sheds its heavy winter coat and welcomes visitors to one of its most anticipated events - the Old Colorado City Artwalk.

What began in the early 1980's as a way to promote local art galleries and shops in the area, the Artwalk has grown in to one of the most popular community events in greater Colorado Springs, a

beloved tradition for locals and visitors alike.

The first event, organized in 1983 by a group of artists and gallery owners, was aimed at creating a space where the community could come together and appreciate the talent and creativity of local artists. At the time, Old Colorado City was struggling economically, and the ArtWalk provided a much-needed boost to local businesses. Over the years, the Artwalk has grown in popularity and now attracts visitors from all over the region, contributing to the city's reputation as a cultural destination. Beyond promoting local art, the Old Colorado City Artwalk also serves as an economic driver for the community, showcasing the talents of local artists while bringing in visitors who support local businesses and restaurants all within a fun and festive atmosphere that celebrates the unique culture and history of our beautiful city. Today, the Artwalk endures as a cherished custom that honors Colorado Springs' distinctive essence and creative legacy.

Held on the first Friday of every month from April to December, the Artwalk showcases the work of local artists, musicians, and performers, transforming the historic district into a vibrant hub of creativity. Art lovers and curious wanderers alike can explore the charming streets lined with galleries, studios, and boutiques, each offering a unique glimpse into the diverse and dynamic art scene of Colorado Springs. From contemporary paintings and sculptures to traditional Native American crafts and handmade jewelry, the Old Colorado City Artwalk has something for everyone to enjoy.
